Papa Murph's Campground

Near Starved Rock State Park and
Adjacent to Grizzly Jack's Grand Bear Resort:

Meet Papa Murph Himself

Here's Murph;
The Big Leprechaun Himself!

Big Papa Murph
Papa Murph himself with Christie

Papa Murph works the night shift and can often be found at the end of the bar, usually staring into space wishing he was at the lake fishing. Don't let this intimidate you though. Just walk on in, order a beer or two and tell him you want to pitch a tent for the night or weekend. If beer isn't your style, he loves to make Manhattans! Tell him you saw his mug on the Net! In fact, I've heard a rumor that someone actually saw him swimming in the lake in his speedo instead of fishing.

Meet Mrs. Murphy

Mrs. Murphy works days and is the real L.I.C. (Leprechaun In Charge). We just let Murph think he's in charge. She's a lot of fun and has lots of good stories to tell. She also has the coveted Polish recipe for ice that has been passed down from many generations now. Be sure to ask about it if you see her.

Meet Sheryl

Meet Sheryl

Sheryl is the latest addition to the Tavern. Actually, she's been around for several years now. Sheryl is one of the offspring born from Virg and conceived either by Murph, the UPS Driver or the devil himself. Depending upon who you ask, you'll get a different answer. Sheryl runs the place during most days and oversees the daily operations so Murph can spend more time fishing. She's alway full of spunk and can dish it out just as fast as she can take it. Tell her you saw her on the Internet and get a free smile. Be sure you tell her it was the Tavern Website or else she'll think I published the other pictures.

Meet Christie

Meet Christie

Christie is actually the newest addition to the crew here at Murphs. As usual, too busy to pose for a picture, Christie is a real worker. I haven't figured out which way she prefers though. Does she spell her name with an "ie" or a "y." A true mystery! She also works labor at a local scrap yard so I'd better say nice things about her or be on the receiving end of her fury. After all, she already broke one customers foot. Be nice to her and buy her a Jager Bomb.

Meet Woody

Woody is the resident bartender and security guard here at Papa Murphs. (I say resident literally) He's also the most affluent and worldly. He's travelled the world in the military police K9 Unit and is the only one of us with a summer residence within walking distance of his main residence. He'll give you the shirt off his back if you ask. But please don't ask because we really like him clothed.

Illinois Valley Camp Ground

Murph reminds you to show him your ti... ummm, to kiss his Blarney Stone!
